Embark on a 7-day trek through the Nam Ha National Protected Area (ASEAN Heritage Site). Learn jungle survival skills, including cooking with bamboo, creating banana leaf camps, foraging for food, and identifying medicinal plants. Engage in community-based tourism activities like rice husking, traditional Baci ceremonies, blacksmithing, and bamboo basket weaving. Experience the unique cultures of the Hmong, Khmu, Lahu, and Lanten ethnic groups, who preserve their traditional ways of life. Enjoy hiking through rainforests and beautiful landscapes.

Itinerary:

  • Day 1: Ban Nam Sing to Ban Nam Vang (5-6 hours)

    After a briefing, visit the morning market for supplies, then head to Ban Nam Sing to explore Khmu culture. Hike up the mountain to Ban Nam Vang, enjoying the natural beauty and a picnic lunch en route. Arrive at the Hmong village around 4-5 PM for village activities like music, dancing, and crossbow shooting.

  • Day 2: Ban Nam Vang to Ban Nam Khouy (4-5 hours)

    Survey the village early morning, visit the school, and enjoy the view of Nam Ha NPA. After breakfast, trek through the valley, foraging for edible vegetation and preparing a traditional jungle lunch. Arrive at the Lahu village around 3 PM for sightseeing and cultural exploration.

  • Day 3: Ban Nam Khouy to Camp 1 (5-6 hours)

    Start trekking after breakfast, moving through the primary forest. Learn about jungle survival, forage for food, and identify medicinal plants. Climb to 1000 meters above sea level, and set up camp around 3-4 PM. Prepare a traditional Khmu jungle meal.

  • Day 4: Jungle Camp 1 to Jungle Camp 2 (4-5 hours)

    Enjoy the sounds of wildlife as you wake up. Trek through cool, shady forests, crossing a hill and following a ridgeline. After lunch, hike downhill to a stream and arrive at the campsite before sunset. Swim and prepare a jungle meal using traditional methods.

  • Day 5: Jungle Camp 2 to Ban Nalan (3-6 hours)

    Wake up early to the sounds of animals. After breakfast, choose between:

    • Option 1 (3-4 hours): Cross the Nam Ha River and have lunch in Nalan village, learning about Khmu culture.
    • Option 2 (5-6 hours): Hike up the other side of the river, enjoy the valley’s scenery, and arrive at the village before sunset. Explore the village after checking into your homestay and enjoy local tourism activities after dinner.
  • Day 6: Ban Nalan to Ban Namkhoi (4-5 hours)

    Have breakfast and coffee, then head to a tea garden before entering the jungle again. Enjoy a beautiful valley view from a viewpoint, then trek through the jungle, observing wildlife and plants. Arrive at Namkhoi village, experiencing the Lanten tribe’s unique culture and handicrafts. Enjoy a local dinner and participate in community activities.

  • Day 7: Ban Namkhoi to Ban Namlue (4-5 hours)

    After breakfast, follow the Nam Ha River through Khmu and Lanten cultivated areas. Learn about traditional clothing, textiles, and bamboo paper making. After lunch, trek up a steep hill in the jungle, enjoying the beautiful landscapes. End the trek at Namlue village and return to Luang Namtha by Tuk Tuk or van.
