Trip overview:

Experience a moderate trek and kayaking adventure through the ancient rainforest of Nam Ha NPA. Stay overnight in a River Camp, visit the Khmu village awarded the ASEAN Standard of Community-Based Tourism, and learn about their lifestyle and culture. Enjoy dramatic scenery, exciting rapids, and visits to remote communities.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Ban Nam Ha – River Camp (Approx. 4-5 hours)
- 09:00 AM: Meet at the office or your hotel, visit the morning market for supplies.
- 10:00 AM: Start the trek in Nam Ha NPA. Hike through dense rainforest, learn about local plants and their uses.
- Lunch prepared by guides using fresh and natural jungle ingredients.
- Continue trekking through lush rainforest, crossing streams, and passing cultivated lands.
- Arrive at the River Camp before sunset. Optional activities: fishing, exploring, or swimming in the Nam Ha River.
Day 2: River Camp - Nalan Village - Ban Houy Leuat
- Morning: Breakfast prepared by guides. Kayaking instructions and safety briefing.
- Paddle down the river, tackling rapids. Visit Nalan village and enjoy a Lao picnic lunch.
- Afternoon: Continue kayaking through dramatic scenery and rapids. Visit Nam Koy village to learn about natural dyeing and bamboo paper making.
- Join the Namtha River, tackle more rapids, and reach Houy Leuat village.
- Tuk-tuk ride back to the office (1 hour).
Note: Best kayaking season: June to November. Low water levels from December to June may affect kayaking conditions.
